Finally, (and most importantly) Serviio is able to stream from webpages to the TV, so my wife can watch Coronation Street on catch up TV without having the ITV-Player on the TV. Serviio is also great to stream movies from my file server to the TV. I find serviio (version 0.9) useful because I can use DNLA to stream the photos to our Samsung TV so we can see them when we get home.I find the pogoplug useful because when the wife and I take photos we can send them to the Pogoplug from our mobile phones while out and about.I have Serviio as a DNLA server running on my Mac and I have a pogoplug which acts as an external file server. Also know what type of programs I like, so the Pi can record TV I might miss while on a Skype call.
I would like to connect the Pi to the drive on the file server over my HomePlug network.ģ) I would like the Pi to offer FreeView, so that I can control all my home viewing from one device and the device can learn the types of program I like.Ĥ) I would like to set up the Pi to offer Skype on my TV, so that when someone rings automatically record the program I am watching so I don’t miss any TV.
I would like to set up my Pi to be the DNLA media server.Ģ) My files for the media server are held on a hard drive connected to a file server. I have two problems I would like to use the Pi to solve.ġ) My DNLA media server runs on a Mac and needs to be always on, drawing too much power.
